USS Spiegel Grove
USS Spiegel Grove: Not many places can compare to scuba diving in Key Largo…
If you are planning to go wreck scuba diving in Key Largo then do not miss this dive!
The USS Spiegel Grove is the largest vessel ever intentionally sunk. She is so huge that she cannot be dived in one day. It will take several dives to thoroughly explore this enormous wreck.
Depending on when you dive, the current can be adventurous. Scuba divers descending the buoy lines, looking like washing on the line on a windy day is not an uncommon sight when the current is strong, but the current does ease when you reach the wreck and receive some shelter
The ship is huge and there is plenty to explore. Waiting for you at the wreck are some very large fish such as Goliath Grouper, trigger fish, gags, blacks, Jew fish, hog fish and barracuda to name just a few.
The artificial system that has developed in this area is now home for a large variety of marine life.
If you are scuba diving in Key Largo this is a dive not to be missed. The reef formation that has arisen is impressive and has fostered growth of an interesting collection of marine life.
