Dive Florida: Scuba diving with a difference.
Scuba dive Florida it has to be some of the best diving in the world with everything from snorkeling or scuba diving corals reefs to wreck diving some of the largest modern artificial reef sites in the world.
THE FLORIDA KEYS
The Florida Keys is known the world over with Key Largo called by some the ‘Scuba Diving Capital of the World’ and with the dives available it’s easy to see why.
A whole variety of dives and sights await those divers who explore these tropical regions. From Key Largo down through Islamorada, Marathon and on to Key West, all famous and well known for fantastic reefs such as Molasses Reef or wrecks such as the USCG Duane or Bibb.
Although Islamorada and Marathon are better known for their game fishing they nevertheless provide a great opportunity to scuba dive. Florida has some of the clearest waters and the Florida Keys has some of the clearest especially where the Gulfstream passes close by.
MIAMI
Further north Miami offers its own unique dives which all adds to the Florida scuba diving experience. Here you can go on a wreck trek seeing more than one wreck on a drift dive and there can’t be many place in the world you will find an army tank sat on the seabed waiting to be photographed!
You will enjoy most of the dive sites listed have crystal clear blue waters and temperatures in the 70’s you will find yourself exploring the coast of Florida discovering its hidden treasures.
FORT LAUDERDALE
As you travel north of Miami you discover Fort Lauderdale which is a fabulous place to visit. ‘The Venice of America’ is a stunning place to stay and the area has some of the most stunning natural reefs.
With three reef lines running north to south along the coast and numerous wrecks to add further interest this is a great place to scuba dive Florida and a fabulous place to visit.
WEST PALM BEACH
West Palm Beach has worked very hard on its reef program and now offers some outstanding scuba diving. Take for example Governors River Walk, a relatively new site created with not one freighter but four freighters all sunk within easy reach of each other and one of the best dives you will have.
This has to be one of the richest places you are likely to dive, cars, women, shopping, cafes and nightlife. A fabulous place to dive, see and be seen.
TAMPA BAY
Over on the Gulf of Mexico you can continue to scuba dive Florida and explore the wrecks and reefs around Tampa Bay.
The waters here are totally different to the rest of Florida and visibility varies with the water conditions perhaps more so than on the east coast of Florida. Having said that Tampa probably has the clearest dive site in the world, Weeki Wachee Springs, a unique dive Florida is proud of with manatees in crystal clear spring fed water.
Florida has some of the best dive sites in the world with wreck dives such as USS Spiegel Grove or coral reefs of outstanding beauty such as Molasses Reef.
Plan to dive Florida with a well thought out plan and you will be exploring one of the best regions in the world in waters that are continually washed by the Gulf Stream giving fantastic visibility.
